Koda has an adoption pending.

Koda was named Kenny at the shelter, and he was listed as Kenny on our site, but we've changed his name to Koda.

Koda wound up in a shelter late in 2020 because of an unfortunate incident. One day, the person who found him (and maybe was planning to keep him; we don't know) was walking him when Koda tripped the finder, who fell on him. Koda responded with a couple of bites to the finder's forearm, drawing blood. The finder decided they didn't want Koda and took him to the shelter. There, he turned out to be a good boy, loving other dogs and doing well with the people who handled him. But, because of the bite, only a rescue could get him out of the shelter. 

So we did. He spent a little time in a foster, but because they were so far away from us, we brought him to our board and train. We learned while he was with the foster that Koda likely was an outdoor dog, as he at first seemed uncomfortable inside the home. He also exhibited the excitement when walking that likely caused his finder to trip. Fortunately, our foster was aware of the incident and was cautious when walking him. We also learned that KodaLOVES other dogs and wants to meet everyone he sees. 

Koda is now with another foster and has been learning that people are good things, because they feed him and love him and let him get used to things at his own pace. He will need a home with an experienced dog owner who can help him learn to trust -- he is getting better and better with that, but will almost certainly be somewhat leery with a new person -- and let him get comfortable on his terms. He's overall a sweet young dog we believe can lead a nice, happy life in the right home.
